Project based learning
Hello everyone, project based learning is the topic we have to reflect upon this week.Actually this is one of the methods which encourage students to engage and to investigate in order that they gain skills and knowledge . PBL allows teachers to expose students to a wide variety of 21st Century skills, and allows students to interact with curriculum in a way that is authentic and fun.
Project-based learning is a dynamic classroom approach as students are completely active while making relations of the lesson topics to real world issues by getting a deeper understanding of it.However the role of the teacher is undenial during the process as it requires a lot of prep work on the part of the teacher .There are four steps to helps us as teachers create a Project Based-Learning classroom.
1. Begin at the end, when planing a project ,we shall begin with the end in mind.Coming up with new ways to present information and showcase student learning can be a challenge but there exist lots of resources available for all levels.
2.Help students develop questions. Us as teacher are there to facilitate learning and guide students toward answers to their questions-not to answer their questions ourselves. For example, by providing engaging opportunities, this may come in the form of online games ,interactive activities or experiments.
3.Help students understand to think like an expert.Students will have to explore a variety of resources as they discover that not all of their questions will have answers. Skills of critical tbinking, problem solving, productivity and flexibility will be on full display during this stage.
4.Help students present ,publish and perform.During this final stage ,students will be required to organize all of the information they have gathered to share it with others. It is important to invite students of other grades, parents, community members ,administrators, teachers when students present their projects.
All in all ,this approach is really helpful for the students and teachers as it allows for topics to be integrated and promotes collaboration among students and teachers.PBL encourages students to be more innovative and stimulates their creativity.

I do agree with you that this method is very effective.Thank u for sharing with us those four steps that will help us to create a Project Based Learning classroom.
ReplyDeleteI really like the way you have organized this reflection.
ReplyDeleteAlso I liked the most when you have written "us teachers" instead of the teacher.
It really shows how much you are doing to be engaged.
Your post is very valuable because these steps will help us a lot in the future. It is a well organised text, clear and precise. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteA very good post and I really appreciate the steps that you have provided for us, guides are always effective. 🙂
ReplyDeleteI really liked the structure you chose to arrange your post, with the steps and all. I find them very helpful, especially the part you give importance to the investigation method, and how important it is to gain new knowledge by themselves, pushed by the teacher.
ReplyDeleteYet, I'm sceptic about bringing students of other grades, parents, community members ,administrators, teachers when students present their projects...although its a good idea so that the students are challenged to perform better, I don't know how much the classroom environment would allow that, because as long as some students are not acquainted with the people mentioned, they would not be able to give their best during presentations, as long as their presence would create anxiety, and the classroom, ideally, should be a comforting place.
I really like your four steps to PBL becuase of the clarity you have demonstrated through them , but what I mostly liked from your post was the "help" you will give to your students on using this method. You emphasised this word so much that I can nearly imagine u already helping your students . And yes, I agree with u at the end when u say that this method is useful for both students and teachers .
ReplyDeleteGood job as always 😊.
Clear and well organized post. The steps that you have mentioned are important for this method.
ReplyDeleteWell done!😉
I read all the other comments above and i can not find anything more to add as they were all mentioned. I find very helpful steps you described to use while applying PBL.
ReplyDeleteA good reflection.I like the way that you have organized your writing and also the fact that you have mentioned the 4 steps that are really very important.THANK U
