Flipped Classroom
Hi everyone, last week we were introduced with an unknown entry for most of us but we had the opportunity to learn it through real practice. Yes , I’m referring to flipped classroom which I found very interesting and useful for me as student but also as a teacher in the future.
First of all , let’s explain what flipped classroom is about : an instructional strategy and a type of blended learning that reverses the traditional learning environment by delivering instructional, often online , outside the classroom.
This model is gaining steam and for good reason. Starting from the
fact that students can have their self-pace learning. This means that they can
work whenever they want as long as it’s before deadline. Next thing , lectures
and information can be reused , because you got it all saved in your gadget.
This classroom model helps to dive deeper into learning material based on
student’s level. So teachers as instructors help those students who are
struggling the most and explain areas of weaknesses by providing feedback
anytime from anywhere. With the flipped classroom model , every student can
participate and be visible especially those who don’t seem confident to engage
and interact.
It seems like the advantages mentioned above overweight any of the
drawbacks that teacher and students may come across during the process. I would
undoubtedly use this model with my students particularly the Group-Based
Flipped classroom. This model adds a new element to help students to learn
-each other. So the class starts the same way others do,with lecture videos and
other resources shared before class. The shift happens when students come to class
,teaming up to work together on that day's assignment. In this way they are
encouraged to learl from each other. Virtual Flipped classroom is another model
which suits more to older students .It is often applied from college professors
who after sharing their video lectures assign and collect work via online
systems. This model usually eliminates the need for classroom at all.
The flipped classroom inspired teachers to offer a versatile and
engaging way to share learning content, while putting more control into
students' hands regarding their own learning processes.
I really enjoyed it . I like mostly the last line of your post where you mentioned that flipped classroom is a inspirational model for teachers . Thanks for sharing with us your opinion !
ReplyDeleteI also think that the advantages of this model, which you have stated in your reflection, overweight the slight drawbacks of this model.I agree that this type of classroom has inspired teachers to flip their classes and enjoy the great benefits that this approach provides us with.
